The Pelican Brief

Mike Brown's defensive juggernaut managed to steal defeat from the arms of victory tonight, losing to the New Orleans Seagulls (or whatever the hell they are called now, I think they are the Pelicans) 104-100. Here are some of my scribbles from tonight's game:

THE GOOD

Anthony Bennett did not play (coach's decision).  Good call, Mike.  He sucks.

Dion Waiters scored 14 off the bench and DID NOT punch anyone in the face.

Tonight's implosion makes me confident that we have a foot firmly planted in the Parker/Wiggins/Randle sweepstakes.

THE BAD

Fourth quarter defensive ineptitude and inability to rebound were the theme in the final five minutes. The Pelicans missed 4 layups in the final minutes, one of which was actually contested. The Cavs could have easily lost by double digits.

The Matthew Delavadova Era looks to have ended as fast as it started.  The undrafted rookie who started in place of the injured C.J. Miles recorded zero points, one assist, and two rebounds in 12 minutes on the floor. Sorry, Mike, but Dela won't save your job or make you look competent any time soon.

Offensive glass was scarce for the Cadavaliers.  The Pelicans out-rebounded the Cavs on the offensive side 19-7.

Turnovers: Cavaliers 20, Pelicans 12.  Nuff said.

THE UGLY

We lost to a team called The Pelicans.

We travel to San Antonio tomorrow.

Good night, Cavs faithful.

Vinnie
